Review on Proteus AMBIO: Smart Wifi Temperature Humidity Sensor with Buzzer & Alerts by Michael Murphy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works, but my device isn't updating properly.

So it's very easy to set up a WiFi router password. Just plug it in and connect your computer to it (just like you connect to a router), set a Wi-Fi password and exit. It creates an account on the cloud server and sends the temperature to that server. You simply log into the cloud server with your smartphone and see the temperature and relative humidity. Cool, I don't have to tunnel into my firewall to get a reading. Cons: The cloud server needs help and the device has some unknown issues. I don't get updates very often, maybe every 4-8 hours or so, so the device shouldn't work. It must have something to do with my internet connection. I thought it might be their Wi-Fi chip overloading the router, but I moved it further away and it got worse. So it must be some weird internet connection I have, or a Wi-Fi device connection, or a server. The cloud server shows you the temperature/humidity, but if it doesn't hear from your device for a long time, does it tell you the time of the last successful connection, not the temperature that was then read? I mean all I want to know is that if my house freezes it will be 24 hours, so the 4 hour old reading is fine. Why can't he just tell me what the last reading was?

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not bad
