This is the second converter/recorder I've tried (the first was the EXuby M/N EXB DCB1668 which was returned a month later for a refund). That's a lot better of the two. I live 20 miles west of Chicago (Villa Park) and am an AT&T customer. The device is supplied with an antenna, converter/recorder, remote control and operating instructions. The instruction manual is excellent. It is fairly comprehensive, contains color photos and diagrams, and is written in plain (non-English) English. The on-screen menus can take some getting used to, but they're also easy to use and understand. I like the remote control. You don't need a vise to press the keys, and you don't have to point them directly at the transducer block. The buttons are small for my hand, but my fingers and sausages have a few things in common. The converter does an excellent job of recording our preselected programs. You can also record the program you are watching with one button. The downside is that you can't watch another channel while it's in recording mode. My solution was a second antenna so I could watch a different channel (I have a 10 year old 32" Samsung LED Smart TV). I tried using a signal splitter but it didn't work. From what I understand the splitter actually reduces the bandwidth of the signal. I believe the converter actually has a built-in signal booster. You need to read the Revain description to be sure. The antenna was a real surprise for me. That. But when I plugged it in and did the first channel scan, it found 23 channels. I moved it to different places and finally found a good one. The last search found 78 channels. I don't speak or understand Spanish, Korean or Polish (except maybe a few swear words - thanks to Grandma). It also collected a lot for shopping channels (HSN, QVC and a few others). In fact, many of the channels found are duplicates. For example ME TV. He heard a broadcast from Chicago (?) and maybe Hammond, Indiana as well. On the plus side, we get (4) PBS and CW channels. courting! The box has been frozen three times since we've had it (one month). However, I only had to disable it once for it to work again. The other two times it restarted and worked fine. It only seems to freeze when I use the advanced game guide. Retrieving program information can be slow and I can be impatient - key overload. They advertise that the EPG manual can show a week's worth of programming, but I haven't seen it for over a day and a half to two. I bought a $15 128GB USB drive from Revain for recording purposes. I had up to 8 programs recorded and there was room for more. I don't need to contact customer service but after reading reviews from other buyers of this box I believe it will be a positive experience. In summary, with this converter I was able to tell the overpriced Xfinity to "shoot out of the bag" and now I can happily enjoy a cheaper "undersized" AT&T TV. I am very happy with this item. PS I was able to watch Bears games on CBS when AT&T TV service was disrupted (must be started by Packer fans).
