I have an old Radio Shack broadband scanner in my car, made by Bearcat of course. I've tried using hidden antennas, magnetic mount antennas, car stereo splitters, etc. With another scanner, I found that some of the antennas mentioned worked reasonably well, but the scanner would not allow me to enter the channels I wanted to listen to. it would only seek and use those channels. I found the TRAM 1199 to be very easy to install and overall it seems to work very well. Some stations sound very strong, others are a bit flat but audible. I know that in my area many of the public service bands are going digital and also using one channel for speaking and another for retrieval. So this may be one of the reasons for the weaker and flatter transmission. All in all I can absolutely recommend this antenna to all scanner enthusiasts. There are no instructions in my package, but as I mentioned, installation was very easy. Just remember not to use sharp tools when tucking the Boundary Wire under the car/truck molding.
