Quality metal hinge outperforms plastic hinges

There were some of those slow closings but with plastic hinges. She threw up all the time (I'm a heavy guy - 300 pounds). So I found and bought this one with metal hinges. The first held up well and the woman liked the slowly closing toilet seat. I was surprised by the rig's design, which has an extended snap portion over the nut (it's plastic, but tightens with a metal screw). Tighten with your finger then use a wrench (or socket if your toilet design allows - 2 of us did this and 1 didn't). It's easier with a socket. In any case, you tighten so that the elongated piece snaps off and the seat tightens perfectly. None have come loose after almost a year. I just installed a third one because my wife was frustrated that the regular plastic hinge on the third toilet kept loosening and had to be constantly tightened. But not this metal hinge with this innovative snap design. It's perfect and simple. The seat and lid are made of composite wood, not plastic. And so far they've held up well. We really like this design. Either type of elongated bowl will do. A simple hinged swivel mechanism makes them easy to remove for cleaning, just like plastic, but they're much stronger and last longer. Look good too.
