Review on πŸ”ͺ Driak Professional Kitchen Sharpening Sharpener by Trevor Rodke

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cheap stones, but not worthless.

Some of them detach from the base and 1 is cracked. I dropped a rock about 12 inches, it hit my glass coffee table and broke in half. They also seem to have a different grit than the stones I got with my Edge Pro cloning system. My 1500 grit seems smoother than the 300 grit that this kit came with. I thought it might be because it's being used more, but looking at the rest of my stones they seem to be a bit more granular than this one. That being said, I can still get a really sharp blade from these stones for less than the cost of a true professional blade stone. So they are worth the $13 I paid for them. I actually bought these because my rough stone is completely worn out, which is to be expected since I've had to re-profile a whole handful of knives as they often come from the factory with uneven blade grinds. So I even have them. So. I bought this set basically to get another 180 course stone, but now I've used the whole set and it's not terrible. Cheap yes, useless no. I would spend money on it again. I just have some superglue so I can glue the backs better if they get lost. lol I can always shave my arms and legs clean with all the knives I've sharpened with it after leather and green compound sharpening and honing. I've even managed to snip some hair off a couple of knives sharpened with these stones. And they were pocket knives, not flimsy kitchen knives. An alternative is to purchase stone sets ranging from $100 for boride or edging stones to over $300 for Wahl or Shapton Pro stones. I'm sticking with $13 stones for now. I mean if I really wanted to I could just buy another really high quality stone to add to this set like Choosera 8k-10k and get almost as accurate results as the entire Choosera set. The fit really helps close the gap to a ridiculously sharp one. If you don't peel it off, it's not sharp.!
