I am an average height and have a slightly skinny 7 year old boy. Ordered medium and large in blue starter windbreaker. The middle ones barely fit. The large one was a bit wider, but longer in the sleeves and upper body. I kept a big one. I like light blue because the light color makes it easier to see my child in crowds or in bad weather. It seems to have decent waterproofing, good for short periods of moderate rain, but I wouldn't use it as a main raincoat.
