I needed at least 4GB of RAM on my laptop to run the Dragon speech recognition software. I don't know how this thing really works, but I do know that my laptop shows 4GB of installed memory (actually a little less, which is normal) and the program works. Installation proved easy - loosen a few screws on the bottom cover (don't lose them!) and plug the memory into an available slot. Make sure you press hard enough until it clicks and locks into the slot, but don't slow down your computer!
