Tried. I wanted to use it as a repeater. Initial setup didn't complete, showing bad connection 78 seconds before the end of the countdown and an error at the end. While speaking to Asus support (don't even try to call them), I asked why the included network cable is so flimsy compared to my other network cables. We noticed that it only has two pairs of wires. The plastic plug is normal, but you can see that there are only 4 brass plates. I tried an old ethernet cable, same connection problem. The currently used Ethernet cable is then configured. Worked great for one day, but then not only lost the signal, but also turned off my WiFi. I had to manually login and change channels to get my WiFi back. I saw the firmware update comments so I asked Revain to send me a replacement. He had the same thin cable. I still wanted to give it a try, so I bought a Belkin cable locally. First I tried updating the firmware on the original machine. When the download was complete, the "Not Found" screen appeared. Since then I haven't been able to connect anymore. Tried setting up a second device, again with a new Belkin cable. Got the same countdown of about 78 seconds and didn't have the same connection issue. Went back to the known working cable and switched to the desktop where it is normally connected. Eventually I managed to install the second block, but only after placing it right next to the modem. Two feet down didn't work. After setting it up I tried updating the firmware which appeared to work. Excited, I stripped everything and moved the router to where it would live as a repeater. No signal. Since then he hasn't even been near the modem. I then tried the firmware repair utility that came with it. Both machines look like they are in recovery mode, with the power light blinking slowly. But the utility counts down 30 seconds of connection and then says "The wireless router is not in recovery mode". The new Belkin cable that didn't work? It connects my desktop to the modem with no problems. Revain no longer offers a replacement for this device.
