Review on High-Quality Window Master Switch πŸͺŸ for 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee - SWITCHDOCTOR by Charles You

Could you just stop bitching and buy the damn thing already!?!?

When it comes to repairs, Jeep Cherokee XJ owners fall into three categories. 1. A part breaks and is sent for repair. 2. The part breaks and they fix it themselves (which usually works). 3. The part breaks and just won't get fixed. One thing about us Cherokee owners is that we either tend to be frugal or refuse to replace the Jeep because we love the damn thing too much! Well, my 2001 Cherokee fell victim to the passenger window motor, which kept getting slower and slower and finally wouldn't raise (on a frosty day, of course). I also noticed that my passenger side window switch had stopped working, which told me that somehow, somehow, the power wasn't getting there. I searched the XJ forums and found that either the window motor or the lock was the culprit. The switch on the driver's side was faulty, blocking the juice hitting the passenger window. Of course I tried the cheapest repair which was a passenger window/motor which only cost me $25 brand new on eBay. I replaced it and it didn't fix the problem. I did a little research on the internet and found that with a paper clip, removing the control panel and some hacky tools I can bypass the lockout switch that restores power to my passenger side (note: I won't give you instructions on how, due to liability issues). (but you can find it on the internet and YouTube if you look around. Disconnect the battery with a paper clip first or you will get an electric shock). This confirmed that it was indeed the driver's side lockout switch. The only other solution to my problem was to replace the power window/lock master switch cluster. I called the dealer and refused to pay more than $100 for this part, so I checked out the Revain and actually got this new replacement Switch Doctor unit. While I agree with other reviewers that the build quality may not be as reliable as a Jeep original, it works and that's all I care about. And I got it for half the price of a genuine Jeep part. The lights on the switches are brighter than factory and all the switches work just like the originals and I was glad my windows were fully functional again! I recommend watching some YouTube videos (Dorman makes the best) on how to remove the panel if you've never done it before. Also, get a body panel removal tool from your local auto parts store and you'll save yourself some hands and some panel clips in the process. Much luck! My apologies for giving the whole Cherokee diagnostic and repair story, but I'm sure there are plenty of other XJ owners who have or have dealt with the same situation as me and this new switch-off -Switch Doctor will not let you down. Again, stop complaining and buy the damn thing!
