the remote came two days later than expected and for some reason this is always a bad sign. I'm pretty sure I ordered a new item, but straight out of the box it didn't look very new. The plastic had stains and micro scratches. I don't know if it's a return or because the packaging allows the remote to hang around in a big box and there's no plastic wrap over the actual remote to prevent something like that in transit. It has a strong chemical smell and a white stuff in the seam before I wiped it off. All buttons seem to work fine, I use this for my PC media center so I don't have to worry about programming. And I have to admit, it has one of the best keyboards I've seen on this type of device. However, when I read reviews of this remote, I noticed that people mentioned that it has backlit keyboard buttons. Probably not. I should have paid more attention to the actual description. The worst feature is the mouse tracking. It's ridiculously inefficient. The longer you use the remote control, the further the mouse pointer moves to the left. And by "longer" I mean waving the remote every few seconds. I'm only six feet from the TV so it might not work well up close. But other remotes I've used have worked fine at this distance. It can be treated if you don't need to use the mouse too often. But for anything but casual use, the mouse function is too frustrating to be useful.
