Easiest to Install 3.5 " External Hard Drive Enclosure

This is the easiest 3.5" external hard drive enclosure I've ever owned. into place, then slide the top cover back until it snaps into place. No tools required as there are no screws. It comes with a power adapter and a USB 3.0 cable. I have a Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB drive installed and my computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate. When I connected the ORICO case to the PC, there was a slight delay while Windows searched the driver cache and installed the hard drive, after which it connected as expected. This disk was already formatted with a primary GPT partition and already contained files. In this case, if you were to install a brand new hard drive, you would probably need to create a partition and format it. The free version of EASUS Partition Manager is probably the easiest and easiest way to do this, or Windows has command line and GUI tools that can do the formatting, they're just a little more esoteric than EASUS Partition Manager. Speed Test: How Fast is the ORICO Hard Drive Enclosure? This question is difficult to answer because file transfer speed depends on factors beyond the user's direct control, such as: B. the physical location of the source and target files on their respective drives and the actual file size. Transferring a large number of small files requires a lot more drive movement than transferring a few very large files, so the transfer rate in bytes per second reported by your copy utility will likely be slower. I have two other external USB 3.0 drive enclosures. and a USB 2.0 enclosure, and when comparing average file transfer rates all USB 3.0 enclosures including this new ORICO seem to be about the same, 4565 MB/s compared to 1924 MB/s for USB 2.0. framework. This uses Western Digital and Seagate 5400 RPM drives (I don't have any 7200 RPM drives to compare). Therefore, USB 3.0 drive enclosures can transfer files about 2 to 2.5 times faster than USB 2.0 enclosures for the same types of hard drives. The ORICO drive enclosure has no vents and the sliding top cover is molded plastic, which can result in heat build-up. be a problem, especially in warm weather. If your computer workstation is directly under a window, make sure that the ORICO case is not exposed to direct sunlight during use: it is made of matte black plastic and absorbs a lot of heat when placed in a place where the sun can be exposed . Giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 because it doesn't have a stand to support the drive on the edge so it has to lie flat which means it gets less airflow to cool it. Most of my other 3.5 inch hard drive cases came with stands and I consider them a necessary accessory. CONCLUSION: Inexpensive USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure, very simple and easy to use. at least not with Windows 7, and it works as expected. The only downside is that it doesn't include a stand, so it has to sit on top of your computer desk, which takes up more space and reduces cooling efficiency for the drive and electronics. .
