Review on ๐Ÿ“บ TCL 40S325 40-Inch 1080P Smart TV by Jeremy Choi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

"Excellent " TV

After reading reviews that mentioned damage in transit I was hesitant to order online. However, the TV arrived in perfect condition. At first I couldn't plug in HDMI and didn't want to force it. Thinking the HDMI cable was old, I connected the coaxial cable first. As I found out that coax cannot transmit HD, the picture quality wasn't very good. I switched back to HDMI and by pressing harder I was able to insert it. After I did that, the image quality improved slightly, but the input still only said 720p. Looking further, I found that my cable box has a hidden menu that allows you to set the output to 1080i or native. I set it to 1080i and the picture is even better. Image quality is stunning when viewed straight on, but quickly degrades when you move to the side. Typical for LED TVs. How much is acceptable to you depends on how much you want to pay. For specs that say the speakers are only 8-10 watts, the sound quality is great! I prefer theatrical settings. It's going to be difficult to find anything other than a 4k TV which most people will be watching at 1080 anyway. I went to my local big shop and saw no difference in 4k picture quality at 1080 or this TV at 1080.49 inches big enough. Leg spacing is 37 inches. Buying a TV stand for a larger TV. Some as much as television. Roku and other freebies abound. Ads will appear when watching free content, but that's to be expected. For the price, size and quality, this TV is a real hit! After almost 6 months of ownership I downgraded my rating to 3 stars because the TCL TV started humming and crackling when I stop, start or stop a recorded show. I was watching from my DVR. It also occasionally makes the same noise when you switch scenes while watching regular TV. Instead of a digital TV, it sounds like I have a mechanical TV with an electric motor. I called TCL. They got me uploading some smoking channels that don't make that much noise. So they said it was my cable provider. Only I have TVs from other brands that don't make this noise. That's why my cable service says it's a TCL TV. Since TCL blames my cable service, I'm stuck with this annoying noise. The picture is great, the rest of the TV is great, but the problem remains unsolved. Update: I found the problem is that I changed the volume setting to "level". When the TV is switched off, it no longer makes any noise. I have not contacted TLC yet. Aside from the noise, I don't notice much of a difference with or without volume equalization. Otherwise, it's still a great TV and price.
