Just replaced the head gaskets on my Subaru Outback, and used the scraper to clean the mating surfaces on the engine block and intake manifold, following the excellent series of YouTube videos from South Main Auto. Works like a charm. It's sharp enough to get stubborn stuff off yet relatively easy to use without scratching the delicate alloy surfaces. If you're using it for engine work and you're not used to scraping delicate surfaces, I would suggest practicing on the less critical surfaces first, such as the intake manifolds, before doing the block. A method that works well it to place your index finger right up near the carbide tip and apply gentle pressure as you *pull* the scraper in a slow steady motion, rather than pushing it or going back and forth like scraping ice off a windshield. Just be patient and make sure to wipe the blade every other stroke to remove any material that could burr your surface.
