The instructions with this shoe rack are okay. The pictures are accurate to direction the boards need to be arranged. The parts and boards are all supposed to have a number sticker on them; my set had only half of the shelves marked with a number sticker. This made it a little harder to build the shoe rack as I had to really compare the parts to the images (which were very accurate). The only tool required is a phillips screw driver.My only disappointment is the top foam pad. The rack is not designed with a method to adhere or hold the sitting pad in place. The foam pad that is shipped is very stiff but can be replaced. It comes in a zipper sleeve that can be washed. I chose to lay double-sided tape to help hold the sitting pad in place. I don't know if it is the best choice, but I wanted a quick fix.I sat on the bench with family members to make sure it felt sturdy. The solid wood boards are worth the price. We tested 350lbs combined weight and felt comfortable with the stength of the rack. One minor concern is that all the shelves and back boards do not prevent the rack from wiggling left-right when tested. However, I don't believe sitting down should stress the rack in a side-to-side motion and do not expect it to comprimise the durability.
