This gasket isn't dealer rubber with an aluminum finish, but the rubber is quite stiff and appears to be a quality replacement that shouldn't "leak in the cold". Given this gear's tendency to leak, I sanded the gear interface with 1000 grit sandpaper to remove all traces. This seal seals everything. I found that my other significant leak was a loose clamp on the transmission coolant hoses that allowed fluid to spill down the side of the transmission, which appeared to be a leaking seal when it caught on the rim of the oil pan. After replacing the clamp everything was fine.
