It's important to realize that this item isn't as strong as it looks

My mandolin has done exactly FOUR times what it was designed to do. The fifth time, one of the pieces came off, or into pieces, didn't it? I can't try to put it back in without cutting my fingers. So it's in the box it came in. If I had known that before buying, I would have looked elsewhere. Save your money on this product; better look for another brand.
