Do not use this device if you have a partially zero or zero emission vehicle such as in California and New York. It will fail the test. You can use this device in a standard or low emission vehicle without fear of anything other than cleaner emissions, better fuel economy and lower mileage. I recommend if you have a 2002-2005 CR-V you have a replacement air intake solenoid valve (preferably new from the dealer) because 9 out of 10 times you will remove the hose from dry rot. You may need to remove 0.25" from the end of the replacement to clear the valve cover gasket. I used a Dremel, but a hacksaw or grinder would have been just as effective. To check if it's rotten before you do anything just squeeze it very lightly, if it gives way it's already torn and you could risk plastic spreading.
