Review on ☕ Clever Coffee Dripper Official: Glass Style Coffee Maker for Hassle-Free Manual Pour Over Coffee & Cold Brew - 18 Fl Oz by Angela Freed

The lack of solid glass doesn't make up for design flaws

If you're like me, you might be looking for ways to reduce plastic's contact with the things you consume. While almost everything is now labeled BPA-free, the replacement BPS that was introduced in its place is just as questionable when it comes to possible long-term health effects and high temperatures (e.g. very hot water for you). Morning coffee!) any plastic decomposes faster than the environment or cold. To you, that's a regular coffee maker, but then there's no reason to buy it when Clever offers its all-plastic models at almost half the price. And in bright colors! To me, this new Clever seemed like the perfect compromise - I can make coffee without constantly hovering over it with a kettle like I do with a pourover, without chasing the coffee grounds out of the coffee maker. French Press and now in the glass! Thing is, everything below the cone-shaped area is still plastic. I was sure the base and handle would also be glass since they cost three times the price of the original clear plastic model I bought years ago. The entire time your coffee is being brewed or poured, it is in contact with the plastic of the valve area. Chemical issues aside, it seems overpriced considering it's still semi-plastic. As of July, it costs about the same as 20 gallons of gasoline. Functionally, it serves its purpose. No filter flushing as others have mentioned, no leaking, convenient to place on a cup - but beats the original in practicality. This new one looks cool but feels like you're holding a giant teacup when full because the entire handle is folded down and most of the weight is up when full. It's like he's asking to be broken. On the old model, the handle is stretched around the heavy taper, which makes more sense. All in all, it almost erases the reasons I bought it. Just a normal machine.

Pros
  • So far, so good
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
