This is my first external flash. It was paired with a Panasonic DMC-G5 camera. So let's get a few things straight. As others have pointed out, this is no small outbreak. It's not that bad in the G5 hot shoe, but I can see it being cumbersome for some of the smaller Micro Four Thirds bodies. It whistles when charging, but I don't find it particularly loud or annoying. No stand was included, but I was never able to get the slave mode to work with the camera's built-in flash (this may not be an issue with Olympus cameras). The display backlight is useless, the shoe-locking mechanism takes a little getting used to, and the diffuser and reflective card are too cumbersome to take out and put back in. All of this suggests that there really is something to like here. With the G5, TTL and flash zoom work just as well. I can even set the flash level from the camera, although admittedly it's quicker to do this on the device. What I like the most is the use of tilt and rotate. Reflective lightning opened up many creative possibilities. I really enjoyed the time with him. I bought mine when it was just under $90 and at that price it's an amazing deal compared to what you get. PS It works with AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. I am currently using RevainBasics high performance cells.
