Review on 🎢 External USB Sound Card - CREATIVE Sound BlasterX G6 by Guan Yin ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like it, thanks for the quality product.

The card has great sound. In Sony XM4 headphones, I heard the difference over the wire even with the FiiO player, which I used earlier as a DAC. Through acoustics, the sound also became detailed, sonorous, low frequencies were elastic and well-researched. On this side, the money is well spent. BUT. This is Creative, which means there must be pitfalls and some crookedness - I figured this out since the time I had E-Mu 0204. And they are here. 1. A crooked volume wheel that you don't expect at this price. For some reason, on cheap Chinese cards they can do it directly, but here not so much. 2. Only by contacting the support service and within 4 days (I wrote everything in detail, but they answered me briefly and dryly) I found out that the card outputs sound via optics only in stereo. No 5.1 and 7.1, which were even on the cheap X-Fi of the same manufacturer! Only virtual 5.1 and Dolby in headphones. At the same time, Dolby is turned on on acoustics ONLY if you already have a signal in SPDIF-IN, but 5.1 still does not appear. Why create so many difficulties and troubles in a card at such a price is completely unclear to me. Why not make a normal sound through optics? Why, according to Creative, gamers should play only with headphones and the product is not designed for 5.1 connection for playing games and watching movies on acoustics is also absolutely unclear and illogical. As a result, you have to watch movies on the sound system built into the mother, which outputs 5.1 to the speakers in both DTS and Dolby, and on this one you can only enjoy the sound in headphones or listen to music on acoustics in stereo. Maybe I will sell and buy a more universal solution, if there is one. Conclusion: if you listen only through headphones and you do not need 5.1 for games and movies through the receiver / speakers - take it. If you want to watch a movie and play on the speakers, then this is not your option.

Pros
  • - Great sound - RGB - Portability
Cons
  • - Sound output through optics only in stereo (no 5.1) on a card at this price - Crooked volume wheel - Lack of volume wheel sensitivity adjustment - Not the most convenient software (but for Creative it's already good) - Very slow product support
