This mic works fine but there is a privacy issue. I've noticed that when I turn off the laptop, the mic gets "hot" again (green light). I've also noticed that every now and then during the workday the mic will switch from "cold" (red) to "hot" (green) for no apparent reason. I just hit the mute button to reset until next time. Whether it's a feature of my company laptop or just USB mics, it's still annoying. In the age of video conferencing, I need an external microphone for my laptop. This mic works well and I like the physical mute button and light (hot mic). If you don't need to limit the audio received from the headset, I recommend this microphone and the laptop's internal speakers, which are usually quite loud even when the laptop is closed and docked. This mic works well at about 10 inches from my face at maximum volume.
