Even if it cools down outside, it's still 90 degrees inside for a while. high 80s all night. This little girl saves lives. I'm in my 50's, I need sleep, I work hard all day (in the AC :)), I come home with my 17 year old red and sweaty and my pug is panting in the air and I don't want to turn on the stove or stove to cook dinner. I saw people downstairs complaining about the noise and the water being dumped. It's no louder than my box fans that run day and night and I've never had to empty mine. I've had this little beauty on high (Northwest heatwave) every day from about 6:30am to midnight for 9 straight days. No water to drain at all. I'm not sure how accurate the temp sensor on this thing is, but it's not as important as the comfort of my family and me. I just found out that my 77 year old mother does not have air conditioning in her current house (they are "looked after" by a stepbrother). So I just bought her one. I recommend this to everyone. It's at least $100 less than others I've reviewed, it's on casters so it's easy to move from room to room or window to window, and it never leaks cold air. If I get too cold, I just turn the controls up or move them towards the kitchen (or both) - I never turn them off during the day. LOVE this thing! My pug too :).
