This is an amazing car. I love sleeping in the cold

This is an amazing machine. I like to sleep in the cold and I always need the air to move, otherwise I can't sleep. This machine can make my room almost too cold. This is a room for up to 4 people with a small amount of electronics that generate heat. I've been using this thing for almost a year now and haven't even had to drain it because moisture evaporates before it can collect in the drain pan! Do yourself a favor and get it now!

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Available in white only

The water should be drained every 6-8 hours

I bought a similar unit from Shinco 3 years ago and (I thought) it's exactly the same air conditioner (looks the same). same) and never had any problems (and it still works great). THIS UNIT will need to be emptied approximately every 6-8 hours (although it is advertised as "self-evaporating"). So basically I have to take a big flat pan and put it behind the machine, tilt the machine back to drain the water to get it working again (because the machine stops working when there is too much water.

Junk: heating, cooling and air quality

I saw that my brother had this unit and used it for several years. I decided to get my own. Well when I got it the hose broke when I took it out of the box. I hardly touched it! I told the company I needed a new hose. They told me the only way to do this was to send a WHOLE SECTION. I had to take the hose out of the box and send the device back. I found it incredibly uncomfortable, but I did it. The hose in the second block was also scrap. He fell out of the box. If you have the extra money to…

Colder than expected

So I've read tons of reviews and agree it's a bit noisy BUT it definitely does what it's supposed to do. I just plugged this thing in and it was 80 degrees in my room - it's been maybe 10 minutes and it's already dropped to 74 degrees and it's getting close. High and low settings don't make much of a difference in noise. To give people an idea of how loud it is - it's definitely quieter than my fan, but not as loud as a hair dryer. It's definitely noisier than a window air conditioner, which is

Great price for cold air!

Even if it cools down outside, it's still 90 degrees inside for a while. high 80s all night. This little girl saves lives. I'm in my 50's, I need sleep, I work hard all day (in the AC :)), I come home with my 17 year old red and sweaty and my pug is panting in the air and I don't want to turn on the stove or stove to cook dinner. I saw people downstairs complaining about the noise and the water being dumped. It's no louder than my box fans that run day and night and I've never had to empty…

Great unit for the price

After reading many different reviews of various portable air conditioners I finally bought this one, it was definitely worth every penny, you can't put a price on a good night's sleep. It's definitely cold and cools the room down pretty quickly. Other reviews have talked about draining the unit, but I live in California and the humidity is around 80% on the worst days. Compared to the prices of other devices, this is by far the best value for money. The only downside I see with this is that a…

Extremely inefficient

Review (Part 1): This product design for cooling the Global Air 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner should be banned. The air intake draws in air from the room to be cooled (and therefore the rest of your home) and expels hot air through a hose out the window. This creates a negative pressure in the room you are cooling, which draws hot air from outside into your home through gaps in window seams, laundry vents, outlet covers, doors, etc. etc. Inefficient, also when the compressor is turned off

  • Well built
