Review on Beico Handheld Classic Portable Birthday by Chris Edgerton

Got this for my almost 4 year old son 'A'. We play video games as a family and A adores his almost 7 year old brother "T" (both birthdays are in August). We got "T" his own more expensive portable console for his birthday, but we knew "A" would ask for it too. "A" is very exuberant and still young for a more powerful handheld - we decided to buy it for him as an affordable option so he doesn't feel left out compared to his big brother. Have to say what great value for money! The console is small and light - it feels cheap, but you get what you pay for. This is the perfect size for a 4 year old! The screen is very clear and bright. The controls and menus are a bit confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad and becomes second nature to you. I just wish the full list of games included a picture/screenshot of each game as many of them seem to have random names (Tetris means Russia and such). Therefore, some guesswork is required in the games. However, there is an abbreviated graphical menu that you have to go through before you get to the full list of games, which is helpful. To be honest my kid is so obsessed with Mario that every time he sees a picture of Mario Bros. he immediately chooses this option. But if you're into something more than just Mario, there are a TON of games out there - you just need to explore them a bit to figure out what's what. Get lots of quality games and an amazingly bright and sharp screen for the money. "A" won't see any real difference between his console and that of his big brother, making it the perfect investment and more than worth it!
