I did my research and read all the reviews before purchasing this sand. I'll admit I was scared but I followed my gut and the advice of the reviews and I'm so glad I did. This was the best thing I have ever done for my axolotl. The sand did exactly what many people spoke of. . I washed it, soaked it for 24 hours, but as I delved into it, I found that the sand that floats is actually a very fine powder that sticks together. That's what this thing does, it sticks to the bottom of the tank and doesn't move. Remember that it's unsettling when everything goes black. Just be patient. In fact, I only rescued him a couple of times with a net and waited about an hour for him to calm down before putting my axxie back in his tank. Oh god he LOVES him. My Axi always stayed in his trunk, and now he swims everywhere and rarely hides.
