Connected a 2018 MBAir to a Sony TV with an HDMI cable. The equivalent Apple device costs 3-4 times as much and gets horrible user reviews even on the Apple website (they seem legit), so I went with this product. The instructions are poorly translated into English and not very helpful, but the actual connection was pretty easy for my purposes. Initially, the computer screen shook to an unreadable size and flickered frequently, but after a few tries, everything stabilized. Successfully watched a streaming movie from the 1980s with a decent but not great picture; would probably do better with a more modern film. Evaluation based on this one-time use - yes, it worked! The time will show.
