This personal alarm is small and light and not ugly alarm looking, so you can hang it from your key chain, pants loop, purse, whatever, and activate it whenever you need it.It’s LOUD! 130 dB is loud enough to harm your own ears if you listen to it too long, so don’t! But I think that it’s also the kind of alarm that people could ignore unless its owner yells out their need as well. I know my wife and I will be taking it with us when we go on hikes in the woods near our home. There are bears in those woods! I expect the loud noise and the flashing strobe light would scare off a bear, and I’d certainly be yelling as well! But if someone gets close to you and you want them to get away so you can get away, just start this alarm and put it next to their ear, and then run.I like how this alarm is activated. If it’s hanging on your belt loop (or purse or whatever), you just grab it and pull. The body of the alarm pulls off and automatically starts its painful noise (with speakers of both sides of the alarm so it’s not so easy to muffle). That’s why I like best to have it attached somewhere on my person. If it’s on a purse, someone can grab the purse. If it’s on your keys (in your purse or pocket), you have to fish them out (if you still have them), but if they’re ready at hand all you need to do is grab and pull.This alarm doesn’t need replaceable batteries. It has a built-in battery that you only need to recharge every six months or so (do it more often – it has an indicator light telling you when it’s fully charged). You would charge it using the included USB C cable (with a USB A plug on the other end).
