I bought this before my washer and dryer because my utility room doesn't have a vapor barrier between the concrete slab (formerly a porch) and the floor rails so water can leak out after heavy rains. I also used it in my old house because the basement also had water issues. This gives the water room to evaporate, but also prevents clean laundry from falling into a puddle while I'm removing them from the dryer. It's heavy enough not to slip.
