On the back of the mounting surface you need to create a gap for the wires.
Luminaire design requires a large hole or slot in the mounting surface for routing of cables. You cannot install them flat on a surface. Also any curvature and you risk breaking the attachment point. Otherwise they are great. I will buy 2 more in amber.
