I have used them on my regular road bike in the past and have been pleased with their low roll and high puncture resistance. In the past I have used Hutchinson Top Speed (which is a gross understatement but hopefully low) and various Michelins such as Pro Race 2, 3 and Lithion. All are much better than the Hutchinsons, but they all had apartments. Surfs are harder and don't seem any less fast. I drove 100 miles in them through Wichita Falls and no apartments. (Although there were plenty of people who had them). I recently got a couple of old steel bikes that I want to restore: Miyata, Steyr and Schwinn. I originally put the kendas on the Miyata (they're hard to find all 27 inches) and they worked fine. I felt different in a tight corner but I usually ride a Specialized Roubaix with a Conti 4000 so I thought I could try to compare and see what the difference is. I ordered Conti Gatorskins, Serfas - and received an almost brand new set of Kendas - the guy sells for 27 inches. Of course, the kends were the hardest. Both Conti and Serfas were much lighter. Serfas are the lightest - they have a slightly smaller "thick area" of rubber to prevent punctures than Gatorskins. I know how the Serfas hold up - my wife's bike has a set that has about 10,000 miles on it and they look brand new. 1 apartment. Kendas are the most difficult to assemble - they all have steel beads. Serfas were about 2/3 the price of Conti and I feel the same way on the road. These tires feel expensive - they look good, handle well and drive well. Yes, they cost more than Kendas (who make great tires) and less than Continentals. While I suspect the Gatorskin are a bit more puncture resistant, I know from experience that the Serfas excel at it. Both are easier to kick than the kendas. Both turn safer. Kendas are softer - when I change them I get black marks on my hands. You will not be disappointed at Serfas.
