Review on YONGNUO YN35mm F2 Lens: Top-Quality AF/MF Wide-Angle Prime Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS Cameras by Anson Chen ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's the best purchase I ever made, I will definitely do it again.

At first I doubted it very much, but with modern prices, and a weak desire to sell my used optics to ebay photographers, and with a budget, the choice was not great. I ventured to see this copy. There were very, very few reviews with pictures, and then on Western sites. When choosing, I took a target with me. There were no front-back focuses on the target, I checked it at all apertures up to 10. But while shooting on an open hole, I observe some kind of misses. I calibrated with Canon's built-in tools, the result was also not satisfactory (I continue to shoot up to 3.2 mm). I shot on it only in rooms, studios (I haven’t shot much yet, no more than 600 frames) and at home. I found a solution - I focus through liveview with zoom through *, in principle, my shooting is not rushed, I can afford to focus for a long time and work with the model until I get a super shot. The picture quality is very good! It would be a bomb if the guys from YongNuo repeated 24mm ! I bought it for 6800, they gave me a lens hood for 200 (I haven’t used it yet, the counter holds it at a higher level). To view examples, search #yongnuo35 in FB, you will be surprised by the quality of this optics! If the question is: take or not take due to the budget, then definitely TAKE! Addition: retouched a couple of photos, did not add sharpness, having correctly worked with color, the picture began to play, texture, skin texture is perfectly visible.

Pros
  • - really holds backlight (I haven't seen anything like this on canon 50mm f1.8 II); - really sharp already from 2.2 (at 2.0 it’s also good, but there is only manual focusing, since misses are frequent); - nice background blur; - good design (canon 50mm f1.8 II backlash); - steel bayonet; - rubberized focus ring, nice to hold and easy to work (unlike canon 50mm f1.8 II); - almost - almost invisible X / A (yes, I didn’t see a single one on my shot 600 frames); - the barrel is minimal; - price;
Cons
  • - there are no profiles in LR yet (when using canon - automatically recognizes as 35mm f1.4); - there is a front / back focus (see comment);
