Review on πŸ–₯️ WIMAXIT Portable 10.1" Raspberry Touchscreen Monitor - M1012, IPS, 1024X600 Resolution, Built-In Speakers by Victor Mosley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A useful integrated solution that mounts the Raspberry Pi on the back of the panel.

I used this display to build a small geochron clock using a Raspberry Pi 4. One of the things I liked about this display was that the Pi is securely mounted on the back and includes handy USB and HDMI adapters. Adapters are provided for both Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 3B, although in my case I only reviewed the Raspberry Pi 4 adapter. The monitor comes with a couple of tiny speakers, although in my experience the sound quality is average, but for Speaker not surprising was this size. I had some trouble clearly understanding the Pi language through these speakers. The kit includes small plastic legs that set the monitor up at an angle, although I expect most people will want to incorporate this monitor and Pi into some sort of frame or case for a custom look. The touchscreen was responsive and I had no problem pressing buttons on the Raspberry Pi interface to dismiss dialog boxes and the like. I had some trouble setting up my Raspberry Pi. The manufacturer kindly provided a link to the instructions. In any case, the Pi would boot into text mode for a short time, and then when the boot process switched to graphics mode, the screen would go blank with the "No Video" message. The manual and even the product description mention some custom settings intended to fix compatibility issues with the Pi. I followed these instructions and edited the config.txt file as directed. After further diagnostics by commenting out `dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d` in my config.txt and then typing in `tvservice -e "DMT 87" && tvservice -s` and then restarting my problem, everything worked fine . through many restart cycles since then. I can't tell if this command solved my problem or if it was pure coincidence. Note that you need to power the Pi via the USB-C port; Do not attempt to power the Pi and monitor from the monitor's USB-C port. I positively recommend this product if you are looking for a 10 inch display with an integrated mounting point and connectivity for Pi.
