Review on ☕ OXO 16 Ounce Thermal Mug with SimplyClean Lid - Dark Cobalt by Mike Phillips

Suitable for tea or coffee but the lid is too complicated

First of all I think the dark cobalt color I chose looks very nice. The stainless steel quality and thickness also seems to be as good as Hydroflask, Yeti or S'well. It keeps water cold and coffee hot well, but the lid is designed for a slow flow. For water I need something that flows much faster. My Yeti and S'well are much better suited to the water. For tea or coffee, however, the OXO's thermal performance seems to rival that of the Zojirushi. Still, I prefer zojirushi because I prefer the lid. OXO requires you to use two hands to open it. So if you close it while driving, you run the risk of trying to open it or having to wait to be stopped. Zojirushi can be opened and closed with one hand. Cleaning the Zojirushi cover is also much easier and doesn't require a manual to show you how to take it apart and put it back together. The OXO lid is also difficult to open with two hands because you have to twist it to open it without accidentally unscrewing the entire lid. My Yeti has a similar twisting style for unscrewing the cap, but the difference is that the cap and cap are easier to grab, so you can twist them in opposite directions to easily unscrew just the cap. The OXO lid's plastic is too smooth, making it difficult to open. I've noticed that the OXO lids on their products are getting more and more complex and I'm not sure if that really makes them any better. I also have many of their POP storage containers and have recently replaced them with other containers that work just as well but have less complicated lids that don't break and are easier to clean. This thermos is another example of an overly complex closure. I like the bottle itself and hope they find a simpler cap that is compatible with it. Otherwise it will probably sit unused in my closet.
