Review on Garmin dezlCam 785 LMT-S GPS Truck Navigator with Integrated Dash Cam by William Wiley

No camera good for GPS, viewfinder and accessories

I only received the unit a few days ago and have been trying to get used to it for a few days now. It was bought to replace my current truck GPS which uses very poor routing algorithms. First I read the manual, updated the system, then the maps, so now I'm just trying to learn something so I can travel well. It's essentially an Android tablet with Garmin GPS as the main app, but despite running on the Android operating system, you can't do many of the things you can do on a tablet. I have sent questions to Garmin about these issues but have not received a response from them. I'm assuming the Garmin CS is just running the banker's watch. So that's the problem with this unit, I'll probably be sending it back unless there's some tweaking or something else that can be done to fix it. minus points; 1.) Multiple times when I clicked "Where to?". or "View Map" the message displays the specified processing. and got stuck there for more than 20 minutes each time, rendering the GPS unusable as it didn't show or plan a route. Since I couldn't get hold of a Garmin CS, I worked with it myself. Turning it off and on again didn't help. So I restarted it, then I had to download system and map updates, which took over 30 minutes. And if you have to do it on the go without Wi-Fi, the data plan will be destroyed. 2.) When I try to install Home (several attempts), I select an address, click save, nothing happens, so I click save again. , still nothing, I exit, then try to go home and now I'm in an endless loop. It is not saved at home when I try to install it. 3.) In productivity apps: A.) When I click on the file manager, it says "Sorry, the file manager has stopped." B.) There is a document viewer and a Libreoffice viewer, but no option to create a document. It seems pointless. On my current GPS, I take notes several times a day, just type them up and check them when I'm done with the trip. I thought the $400 GPS would include this feature. C.) The music app on the GPS is also not needed, I can turn off and stop these useless apps, but not remove them from the device. Also a camera app on a non-camera device, so there shouldn't be a camera app. All these apps take up storage space and shouldn't have been downloaded there in the first place. 4.) The routing algorithm doesn't seem to work any better than my other GPS devices. I thought Garmin was better at routing than others because when I think of Gamin I think of GPS as I've been using their handheld GPS for hiking for many years with no problems. I've only ridden it a few practice tracks, better routes are available, but even when the country road is good it seems like it takes the slower, longer route just to get to the interstate. I have until the end of January to return it so I will be working with Garmin first to try and resolve these issues. Pro: The IFTA feature looks useful, which my current GPS doesn't. I will update this review once I get a fix from Garmin. Garmin never replied. They didn't seem to have any answers. Aside from the fact that the review is not only accurate, it's designed the way it intended. I have no idea how an impartial person can give this device more than 1 star.
