Review on Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Toaster with Shade Selector, Extra Wide Slots, Bagel, Keep Warm, Defrost, Auto-Shutoff, Cancel Button, 4 Slice by Justin Smith

I bought this 22811 toaster from Costco (they gave it away for only $20, maybe now). It has the latest features, and you can burn yourself like hell by touching a metal surface after toasting (nice feature!). But to my great surprise, all the features work as advertised! I can't say it's fast. It takes 3 minutes to toast a piece of good whole wheat flour on level 5. And it beeps. a lot of! It beeps once when starting and three times when stopping! And if you select KEEP WARM, it will beep every minute during heating and then 3 times and make toast after just 3 minutes of heating. Proof that the designers smoked some serious dirt is the fact that the CORD FRONT is coming out! And the crumb tray is on the BACK! After all my testing I decided to keep this beast because it toasts well, all functions work properly and the toast will NOT fall out of the pan (which happened almost daily with my previous toasters when using thin German tortillas. Crazy) . I solved the cable issue by using thin wire to secure the cable just below the crumb tray (it comes out the back where the tray fingers are cut out), so it now works like a charm. See photos how I made it. I really wonder why it's so hard to design the right toaster. pull out BACK. SURFACES NO BURNING. Crumb tray FRONT . NO SIGNAL. There's no chance the toast will fall under the bread tray (Ham Beach is very good in this department). Buttons working as they should (same thing). and FAST toasting. Am I asking that much? Yes, of course. SIX MONTHS LATER: Surprised to learn this toaster has served farmers since day one, toasting toast to perfection. The beep is not that loud (my microwave is) and indicates the toaster is on and off which is nice. My cable holder hasn't moved and works great. Now if I could give an accurate rating of this toaster it would be 4.7. since I can't, I'm changing my grade to FIVE! I love this pup!
