Pump does not work - coffee, tea and espresso

We ordered our first of these espresso machines before Christmas. When it arrived we opened the box only to find the blender. We sent it back and reordered the espresso machine. When we got the second we plugged it in only to find out the machine wasn't picking up water. A quick internet search revealed the problem: a defective pump. Went back and bought something else.
