The computer is always on, even when you turn it off. If you don't care, this works great. I wanted to break the chain between the wall and the computer. It's not like this. Connect the computer to the blue connector and the monitor, speakers and printer to the green connector. When the computer is off, it disables everything else. But the computer is still getting power, which means it's still hot and you have to rely on the switch to stop the surge. I plugged that power strip into another one on my desk and flicked the switch when I was done with the day. I also plugged a router into the (red) outlet so I can turn it on to boot other computers in the room. But when I turn everything off, the router goes off too.
