While it would be beneficial if a reasonably priced charcoal filter was available, this is not an OEM replacement that meets this requirement. While I'm more than happy to soak and rinse first to get rid of the charcoal dust, they just don't fit right. They're slightly smaller than a Capresso filter and slightly underfilled - hence the filter and filter housing don't fit snugly enough and intend to float to the top of the tank when the brewer is filled with fresh water before brewing, according to my analysis and despite my earlier ones Also, comments I now believe that the buoyancy problem that others have commented is also due to the tight weave of the filter paper which initially traps enough air to cause the buoyancy problem. K&J accepted my return.
