I flashed Tasmota on Linux with: esptool.py --port /dev/ttyUSB0 erase_flasheptool.py --port /dev/ttyUSB0 write_flash -fs 1MB -fm dout 0x0 sonoff. am connected to the hotspot "sonoff-xxxx" it created on my phone and set up WiFi. I saved it and then connected it to the device via LAN and configured it as a generic 18 module. It works great! The easiest device to use is the esp8286/5 - no programmer or voltage regulator required. The quality of the board is excellent, there are contacts if necessary. Convenient built-in reset switch. Edit: Based on recent discussions, I just wanted to point out that they should come with a 500mA regulator (S2Px or S2Qx with the distinctive crescent shaped MicrOne logo) and not a small 150mA regulator (4Ax or 4Bx where xa is random number/letter, and the middle letter has no underscore). They have more than enough power to power a typical dietary supplement.
