I was learning to bake bread but my loaves burned. I bought this to check my oven temp and found my oven was at 50 degrees. Now my buns are perfectly browned. Then this thermometer seems to be quite accurate. I leave it attached to the oven rack next to the bread. It's easy enough to read through the oven door with a flashlight if the window is clean enough. marking is clear. I read reviews that such thermometers do not respond quickly enough. I haven't tested the response time, I just leave it in the oven and it seems to keep up with the oven as it preheats. I wasn't expecting "instant read" capability.
