The 4 inch hoop is the same size as the one that came with my machine but it is good to have a spare so I can hoop another project while one embroiders. It looks pretty much the same as my original hoop - the only possible difference is that the ridge on the inside of the hoop could be a bit wider on the side where it connects to the embroidery attachment - but that's no problem. .To those who say you can't embroider a big design with a big hoop, yes. However, if you are using a purchased embroidery design, you will need the shared design version. And make sure the total width of the two-part design does not exceed the size of the embroidery hoop. The first split design I bought from the embroidery library was slightly longer than the hoop and I needed to overlap the two sections a bit. Now I know I need to look and make sure the sum of the two pieces is less than 7 full inches. Then all I have to do is remove the embroidery hoop from the machine and reattach it with the two lower connectors. Works perfectly and I'm happy with the versatility. I haven't invested in design splitting software yet. Maybe when I'm more experienced and have time to play, but for now I'm happy to use these hoops!
