Thing works great. Saves a lot of time. Bad reviews are most likely coming from people who don't know how to use it properly. The red portion of the tool slides forward (with the inner wire brush fully submerged in the center portion of the red portion) to clean the outside of the pipe, and then slides back (to expose the inner wire brush) to close the inside of the fittings to clean . I bet the people who broke theirs accidentally cleaned the inside of the pipe, no no. One star removed because the red exterior of the piping brush is difficult to glide causing you to press on it and scratch your finger or hand on the cleaner "inside the fitting" but I'm not sure if it would also work if it were freer.
