I took the keys to a local locksmith who not only cut the keys but offered to show me how to program the key into the car using my two original keys . I had instructions and thought how hard it could be, but didn't mind watching him. Of course, the first key wasn't programmed and he laughed and forced me out of the car. Then he repeated the procedure and it worked perfectly. Then he told me a secret. When you reach the final stage of programming a new key, don't rush. When turning the ignition on, leave the key for about 3 seconds before turning the ignition off. Followed his instructions and programmed the second key with no problems.
