Received this carafe today and love it! I did so much research before making this purchase and I couldn't be happier. It was a gift for my husband and he has already bottled his whisky! I was concerned about so many conflicting reviews but I took a chance. The cork has a plastic ring around it but I think it works better for us as the carafe is mainly used for decoration as we keep the whiskey for special occasions. Also this product is not made of crystal, but thick glass. However, it is durable and doesn't seem fragile at all. I saw a review that mentioned an issue with top curvature and found that to be the case. However, I can twist the lid a bit and it stands up without any problems. I've used a lens cleaning tissue to "whiten" the carafe itself and while it's not very pretty, my husband is very happy with it. !
