Works perfectly. Cuts great. BUT. PLEASE READ

Okay this little miracle works great and the Westcott blades are SUPER SUPER SUPER SHARP. That's all well and good. But the instructions on the back and the word "SAFETY" all over the place - it's crazy! BE VERY VERY CAREFUL when handling or changing blades. The "shield" only covers half of the blade so you can safely handle it when changing blades, but uninstalled blades are left uncoated and have a very sharp edge. Grab it with your skin and you will be CUT. Keeping these blades in a container is a must. I find it irresponsible of Westcott not to pack the blades in some cheap storage case. There is also a lock on the knife. On first reading, you might think it's a "safety lock". This is NOT a safety lock, but an ACTIVE lock to keep the blade extended. pretty obvious once you use it. The real safety issue is that with the blade retracted you don't think you will get hurt. That's not the case. You're much less likely to cut yourself, but it's still VERY possible. When the blade is retracted, there is approximately a 1/32 inch gap between the blade and the blade. Don't raise the blade past the cutting area, even if it looks safe - it doesn't - and you could cut yourself. This is a GREAT tool far superior in cutting performance and design to similar products I've had from Friskars and others. HOWEVER, it's superior for one reason - it's insanely sharp. Be careful and keep it away from children. Perforate 6 layers of thick cardboard with little to no pressure?

Pros
  • Rotary Knife
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
