Dimming function FAILED

Ozeri 360 Tower Fan: Although the fan works well overall, I bought it mainly because of the dimming function in sleep mode. While this feature is nice, the problem is that it only works when the fan is on. When you're not using the fan, there's always a huge, bright temperature gauge on that can't be dimmed because the fan isn't on. So you have to either cover it or turn it off to hide the temperature. Also, inexplicably, all functions except the mode indicator are dimmed when the dimming function is enabled. Why does the mode have to stay on? Is it really that important that it can't be dimmed along with the other controls? What were they thinking? If you cover the top of the fan with something to dim the light, the remote control will stop working. However, since the dimming function doesn't work, the top of the fan needs to be covered when you don't need the light, unless you unplug it when it's not in use. In fact, the instructions state that "the fan should always be turned off when not in use". ?!? Seriously, who's gonna do it? If you don't plan on using it in the bedroom, it might not matter. The instructions also state that this fan should not be used in damp areas such as a bathroom or near a window where moisture can get onto it. So maybe it's not as durable as a regular home fan? Although I plan on keeping the fan because it's too hassle to send it back, I would think twice before buying anything from them again. The instructions also state that you should not use an extension fan due to the potential fire hazard. , but the cord isn't very long (5ft) so usage is limited unless you use an extension cord. Another oddity of this fan is that the instructions say to first connect the two halves of the base together and then thread the cord through the hole in the center. However, the end of the connector won't fit through the hole, so you'll have to pull the halves apart to insert it. While this is just a minor inconvenience that's easy to fix, it just makes you think about the company, its products, and their design.
