We received these gates to replace the metal gates we previously had. Wood is good because it "folds" less. So you can open it and slide it back in without worrying about the laundry basket snagging on it. The gate also comes completely off the bracket, allowing you to move or remove the furniture when not in use. Both are strengths. However, there are a few downsides. #1 You have to lift the gate a bit to get it in the hole to latch it. If you lift too much the back of the gate will fall out of the bracket and then not be securely fastened as the bottom part comes out of the bracket. #2 When it clicks, it's loud. It's hard to sneak down with him. All in all not a bad buy, just could use a few design updates.
