Review on πŸ“‘ Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router: Superior Speed and Reliability for Seamless Internet Connectivity by Drew Panah

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Serious lack of quality control

I had an E2000 that was having a problem. Linksys sent a new device to replace it, but I also bought this one because I've expanded my use to TVs and other devices. The setup is almost automatic and the devices were connected very quickly. The device sits on my desk, has a very clean profile and works flawlessly. I also appreciate the gigabit speed. It definitely got noticed. I originally gave 5 stars but less than 2 months later I have to reevaluate my comments. It's difficult because I'm a longtime Linksys fan and have old routers that still work. but I wanted newer technology to fit newer devices. I was starting to have problems with my router so I used the software that came with it to check it out. I was "recommended" to install a firmware update. Usually this is not a problem, but in this case it has "bricked" the router and cannot be reset by the user. Instead I have to send the device back. After two hours of calling and chatting, I have an RMA in my hands. Luckily I have an E2000 to back up, but without it I would have had no internet for a week waiting for a spare. Turns out I didn't jinx it here. This is a common issue on the Cisco forums and the tech support staff spotted the problem right away. By the way, if you need help, don't use the chat. They're time-consuming, frustrating scenarios, and then they're telling you to call support (and try again). Save time and nerves! I hope they fix the problems on this line quickly because the quality control is really bad at the moment! It's Cisco guys so it should be fine!
