Such a beautiful shade of red

I've wanted to dye my hair red for a long time but hate how difficult it is to get the color. I have tried so many different brands and I usually like to use dark red henna which can be a bit labor intensive and messy but lasts a long time. I also love using punk colors. My sister is a hairstylist and recommended this brand to me as she says it's one of the best things for an intense color change. Of course, to get this result, you need to pre-lighten your hair. I bought this and also bought the wild orchid. What I actually did was use L'oreal HiColor Highlights in magenta first. It made my medium brown hair look a little lighter and redder, but it still wasn't as intense as I was hoping. I then mixed this red with some Pravana Wild Orchid and some conditioner and then applied it to my hair. I covered my hair with a plastic bag, making sure to wear gloves when applying. It can get your hands and everything else dirty if you're not careful. I've been dying my hair for years so, yeah, you can definitely make a lot of mess with this stuff, I haven't made a huge mess at all. The end result of this was a fairly deep red. It doesn't look that dramatic indoors, but outside in the sun and in bright light the shadow looks beautiful. For the first month of using it I made sure to only rinse with very cold water and only condition every few days, no shampoo unless dirty and it was always sulfate free. The color lasted almost a month. As it faded, it looked very burgundy. The next month I used it again to touch up and was again happy with the original appearance. My scalp is a little red but that will go away in a few days. I love that it comes in an application tube so you can squeeze it out, but I honestly think it would be a good idea if it came in a jar. You can then use a paint brush or gloved fingers and apply more easily. There was still a chunk in the tube so I could cut it, but I was too lazy to do it at the time. My hair is VERY curly and shoulder length and I managed to use just over half because I added conditioner and a slightly different color. If you hope to get the color shown in the description, your hair should be a very light color at first. This type of dye is safer to use and gives the best results in my opinion.
