This lens is very sharp, and this quality really shines on a medium format camera! Even wide open this lens is extremely sharp at all angles, it improves somewhat when zoomed in to f/5.6, but the difference is so small that you really have to look very closely at the zoomed image to find it. Despite being a macro lens, it actually works very well as a portrait lens with very good bokeh. As well as the sharpness of this lens, the image stabilization is a very nice addition. Due to the large pixel count on a medium format sensor, a person can be very limited in situations where you can shoot handheld with this camera, especially if you want to keep the ISO at 100 and thus get at least 4 stops. if not 5 then it is very valuable and allows a person to shoot handheld a much higher percentage of the time.
